    Jeremiah

    I've been reading through and studying the book of Jeremiah.  What an incredible book of healing and restoration.  Here are some verses that have really been at work in my life...

    Jeremiah 3:14-15

     14 "Return, faithless people," declares the LORD, "for I am your husband. I will choose you—one from a town and two from a clan—and bring you to Zion. 15 Then I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will lead you with knowledge and understanding.

    Jeremiah 17:5-8

     5 This is what the LORD says:
           "Cursed is the one who trusts in man,
           who depends on flesh for his strength
           and whose heart turns away from the LORD.

     6 He will be like a bush in the wastelands;
           he will not see prosperity when it comes.
           He will dwell in the parched places of the desert,
           in a salt land where no one lives.

     7 "But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD,
           whose confidence is in him.

     8 He will be like a tree planted by the water
           that sends out its roots by the stream.
           It does not fear when heat comes;
           its leaves are always green.
           It has no worries in a year of drought
           and never fails to bear fruit."

    Jeremiah 24:4-7

     4 Then the word of the LORD came to me: 5 "This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: 'Like these good figs, I regard as good the exiles from Judah, whom I sent away from this place to the land of the Babylonians. [a] 6 My eyes will watch over them for their good, and I will bring them back to this land. I will build them up and not tear them down; I will plant them and not uproot them. 7 I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the LORD. They will be my people, and I will be their God, for they will return to me with all their heart.

    Jeremiah 29:11-14

    11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you," declares the LORD, "and will bring you back from captivity. [a] I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you," declares the LORD, "and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile."

    Jeremiah 30:8-9, 11, 17

     8 " 'In that day,' declares the LORD Almighty,
           'I will break the yoke off their necks
           and will tear off their bonds;
           no longer will foreigners enslave them.

     9 Instead, they will serve the LORD their God
           and David their king,
           whom I will raise up for them.

     11 I am with you and will save you,'
           declares the LORD.
           'Though I completely destroy all the nations
           among which I scatter you,
           I will not completely destroy you.
           I will discipline you but only with justice;
           I will not let you go entirely unpunished.'

    17 But I will restore you to health
           and heal your wounds,'
           declares the LORD,
           'because you are called an outcast,
           Zion for whom no one cares.'

    Jeremiah 31:9-14

     9 They will come with weeping;
           they will pray as I bring them back.
           I will lead them beside streams of water
           on a level path where they will not stumble,
           because I am Israel's father,
           and Ephraim is my firstborn son.

     10 "Hear the word of the LORD, O nations;
           proclaim it in distant coastlands:
           'He who scattered Israel will gather them
           and will watch over his flock like a shepherd.'

     11 For the LORD will ransom Jacob
           and redeem them from the hand of those stronger than they.

     12 They will come and shout for joy on the heights of Zion;
           they will rejoice in the bounty of the LORD—
           the grain, the new wine and the oil,
           the young of the flocks and herds.
           They will be like a well-watered garden,
           and they will sorrow no more.

     13 Then maidens will dance and be glad,
           young men and old as well.
           I will turn their mourning into gladness;
           I will give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow.

     14 I will satisfy the priests with abundance,
           and my people will be filled with my bounty,"
           declares the LORD.

    Jeremiah 33:3, 6-9

    3 'Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.'

     6 " 'Nevertheless, I will bring health and healing to it; I will heal my people and will let them enjoy abundant peace and security. 7 I will bring Judah and Israel back from captivity [a] and will rebuild them as they were before. 8 I will cleanse them from all the sin they have committed against me and will forgive all their sins of rebellion against me. 9 Then this city will bring me renown, joy, praise and honor before all nations on earth that hear of all the good things I do for it; and they will be in awe and will tremble at the abundant prosperity and peace I provide for it.'
